2004 - 2006 Thoroughbred Mare
Dulce was a grand daughter to Seattle Slew, well bred with a laid back mind and very athletic. I fell in love with her the first time I saw her as a weanling, towering over her pasture mates all foals from the year before her. She had a presence about her, and a calming personality that just won me over. I made a deal with the owners, whom I was working for at the time, and worked her off with my wages. I started ponying her all over the place, and hauling her to a few different places and ponying her there, nothing fazed her. I also started her with the in-hand work I was learning at another trainers barn, and before long she was doing a few steps of the piaffe in-hand, she could do a collected trot, half pass and shoulders in walk and trot. She was also becoming very good at the Spanish walk, kicking her legs up high and keeping the forward movement. Under saddle, she was so easy to start, never trying anything, and so willing to please, she was only backed a dozen times or so, as a cool down to the in-hand work bareback walking for a few laps, and a couple of times taking through her gaits under saddle. She was a once in a life time horse, that can not be replaced!
